The nottingham.cloud is the home to cloud computing services developed by Research Systems Team at the University of Nottingham School of Computer Science in the UK.
The only cloud computing service made available at this time is a Linux Teaching Desktop used by some of the School's taught modules, however subject to licenses being available for use it may be used by all Staff and Researchers based in Computer Science and students on Computer Science courses and those doing Computer Science modules.
If you are a member of staff or student in a category mentioned above you should already have access, if this is not the case then please email firstname.lastname@example.org and provide details of your association with the School of Computer Science.
The only supported method of accessing the nottingham.cloud desktops is via a client installed on Windows, Mac or Linux. If you with to just test the service you may access it using the HTML Access link above. Clients are also available for Android and iOS services although at this stage, like with HTML Access, they are not officially supported.
After installing the client you will be prompted for the address of the Connection Server, please type: nottingham.cloud
In most cases this can be solved by turning of International Keyboard remapping in the Horizon client. Please also use the right Alt key with the 3 key to get the hash symbol.
Please use the full desktop client instead. The HTML client may partially work but at this time it is unsupported.
Please use the full desktop client instead. The iOS and Android clients may partially work but at this time are unsupported.
You can find the official VMWare documentation pages here.
Currently G51SYS and G51CSF primary use the Linux Desktop for all of the teaching.
Please speak to your module convener or personal tutor. For conveniance you can find the Getting Started guide for G51SYS and G51CSF here.
